Search Boxes

There are various ways of entering your search statement in a search box. The type of search box depends on the database being used. Below are three of the most common.

Here’s how you enter the search statement (obesity OR overweight) AND children.

Single box

Enter your whole phrase including the brackets.

Multiple boxes

The OR terms are placed in one box.  Put the  term “children” in the second box and select “AND”.  Select a field such as SU (subject) or AB (abstract).

Descriptive multiple boxes

The terms joined by AND go into the box “all these words.” The OR terms are placed in “any of these words.”
